THIRD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT, NJ – Joining a growing of chorus on female leaders calling on David Richter to issue an apology for his disturbing, now deleted, tweet where he referenced Kate Gibbs being in a box and suffocating, Republican women from around the state issued the following statement today:

“The use of threatening and violent language by David Richter towards his female opponent Kate Gibbs cannot be tolerated. David should issue an immediate apology for his increasingly sexist and demeaning attacks on Kate.

We support Kate Gibbs for Congress because she has the experience and determination to represent New Jersey well in Washington D.C. David’s insistence on disparaging her qualifications and competence and speaking down to her as if she were a child is insulting to women everywhere. And now, invoking the image of a woman in a box suffocating brings these attacks to an alarming new low.

Whether it’s David Richter’s aggressive social media posts or Governor Murphy’s Administration covering up of a rape allegation, it is apparent sexism is thriving in New Jersey politics. These disturbing attitudes towards women are parasitic and threaten to harm our democracy and need to be admonished at every turn.”
